A Natural Approach to Personal Wellness
When you open your eyes and look around, it’s hard not to notice all the pain and sickness around you. We can all list a number of people that we know who either have cancer, diabetes, depression, anxiety, or some other slew of painstaking illnesses. Many times, the ones suffering are people that we love, or even ourselves.
When sickness plagues us, it tends to become a cycle, doesn’t it? Get sick; take a pill. The pill may induce harmful side effects, so take another pill. It’s a vicious cycle that we all, as a society, have fallen into. It is like putting a Band-Aid on the problem but never getting rid of the root cause of the problem. At the end of the day, there should be a point where we stand up and say enough is enough. I truly believe that I speak for a large number of people when I say that I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Of course, good health begins with taking good care of ourselves. It begins with eating a healthy diet, getting exercise, having a balanced life which includes good sleep and recreation, having healthy relationships and even our spiritual life. But we live in a world full of stress, deadlines, preservatives and chemicals. Our bodies are affected by our surroundings (pollution), what we ingest, exercise or the lack of it and by the stressors in our lives. In my research to come up with a way to help myself and my family without the frequent use of synthetic drugs, I stumbled upon mankind’s first medicine: Essential Oils. Before I continue, I would like to say that I am not against medicine. I am thankful for our doctors, modern science and the medicines that have saved many lives. I do believe that there is a place for medicines, but that we have abused the use of medications. They should be our last resort and not our first go-to.
My first personal experience with an essential oil was when I was experiencing severe wrist pain and my sister prayed over me while applied Young Living essential oils to my wrist. Within ten minutes, the pain that had been plaguing me for two days was completely gone. I was amazed and I realized that I had stumbled upon something valuable and I needed to find out more. Since then, I have been researching and learning and there is so much more to learn every day!
What are essential oils?
Essential oils have been used for thousands of years, and are referenced numerous times throughout the Bible. They are the essence of the plant and come from the seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots and flowers of the plant. They are composed of tiny molecules that can penetrate into every cell, administering healing therapy and protection at the most fundamental level.
Essential oils benefit so many aspects of our personal well being: our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well being (Stewart, D. 2014). These oils are the life blood of plants. They embody the regenerating, oxygenating, and immune-strengthening properties of plants (Higley, 2013). If you walk by a lavender field and take a big deep breath, you are taking in the aromatic benefits of essential oils. Please note that I am referring to high quality, therapeutic grade essential oils. There are many “essential oils” available on the market that have been improperly distilled, diluted and mixed with solvents and other chemicals. This is why, after researching various essential oil companies, I chose Young Living essential oils for my family.
Young Living is the world leader in the production of essential oils. They are the only company in the United States that has the Seed to Seal Guarantee. This means that from obtaining the right seed to the planting and caring of the plants, proper distillation and bottling all the way to the seal, it is done by Young Living. So when it comes to purity and true medicinal benefits, Young Living is the #1 choice.
